Committee to Reimagine

For over six months, I participated in a committee of alumni, faculty, staff and students to reimagine a new future for the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI). It was a galvanizing experience, which included respectful, generative and at times heated discussions about a vision to move forward. We agree SFAI should strive to become a more horizontally governed just institute involving prominent BIPOC LGBTQAI+ articulation at all levels of the institution. On January 14, 2012 we presented our report to the extended SFAI community. Here’s our complete presentation. I presented the Pedagogy sub-committee findings, a sub-committee which I co-chaired with Lindsey White.

Additional information and credits are on SFAA’s website. A special thanks to our main committee co-chairs: Karen, Tom and Chris—for bringing us together, for generating our code of conduct, and for the relentless energy you poured into the project. You fulfilled an exemplary civic duty to the institute and to the city of San Francisco.
